Correct (for glibc based systems).

Every author of a shared library should have read Ulrich Drepper's
paper in this:
http://people.redhat.com/drepper/dsohowto.pdf
and if time permits:
http://people.redhat.com/drepper/goodpractice.pdf
Although they concentrate on GNU/Linux the general things are valid
for all systems.
