For a new installation the option use-keyboxd is written to
~/.gnupg/common.conf. Uncomment that option and you are back to
pubring.kbx.

If you already have keys in the keyboxd, you should export them:

  gpg --export --export-options backup > all-keys.pub

the edit common.conf and run

  gpg --import --import-options restore < all-keys.pub
