Lacking a way to test this, I simply implemented what we have in gnupg
1.4.  Something like

    ./configure CFLAGS="-arch ppc -arch i386" --disable-endian-check \
		--disable-dependency-tracking --disable-asm

should doit.  However, there might be issues with libtool.

You ran ./autogen.sh, right?  A "grep config.h" should show you a
defined macro DISABLED_ENDIAN_CHECK.
