gnupg 1.2.0 uses excessive file descriptors

Hello,
I installed gnupg 1.2.0 on Linux and called
gpg --rebuild-keydb-caches
as recommended. It appears that gnupg opens the same file /home/sz/.gnupg/pubring.gpg
until it runs out of file descriptors. Is it really intended in this way or
is a close() operation missing somewhere?
I saved a syscall-trace at http://home.snafu.de/zahn/trace.txt.gz
BTW I had to change line 4577 in configure to
for LDAPLIBS in "-lldap" "-lldap -llber" "-lldap -llber -ldl -lresolv" "-lldapssl41"; do
but that may well be an incorrectly installed openldap-2.0.27.
