I think the key difference is #29 involves `read_from_session_record_port` and the segfault actually happens in Guile, whereas here this involves `scm_gnutls_session_record_port` and the segfault happens there inside guile-gnutls.

Maybe there's a common cause or it's a single issue that can cause failures in different ways.

I have tried (and so far failed) to write a small reproducer for #29, and I haven't tried for this specific yet, but as you say, this is clearer so maybe it's easier to reproduce.
