just switching the 57 to 56 leads to a failure of `tests/privkey-keygen` during testing of an Ed448 signature.  privkey creation, pubkey extraction, and signature creation all work fine, but `gnutls_pubkey_verify_data2` returns -89 ("Public key signature verification has failed") on an Ed448 key.  I haven't traced it back further than that.
