That seems like a good point: even though POSIX doesn't mention any limitation on the iov_base value, the empty case can be handled with an empty vector instead. I couldn't find such checks even in Linux kernel's iov_iter.c and related code. So perhaps we should try to fix the caller (crypto-selftests.c) as well.
