Issue is that many developers are not carrying about details and if you want to use/package release + some number of patches from git source tree you may find that impossible to do as many people do not separate CI and other files commits from actual source tree files and **only** way everywhere to have correctly build package is to grab tagged repo content -> apply patches -> initialise am/ac/lt an build everything.

Definitely in case of gnutls obstacle is that it is not possible to use version as tag on above procedure. This is why I've asked consider change tagging convention to just version without any "decorations" :)

As long as this repo holds only gnutls repeating that in tag name is pointless .. a bit.

Only this and nothing more.
