Yes and no. You can additionally install gcc-9/g++-9 from experimental (```apt-get install -t experimental g++-9```) and both -8 and -9 should work. However the helper libraries, including libstdc++6, are not co-installable but you need the newer versions for gcc-9/g++-9. So you end up with using some parts built from gcc-9 source even when using gcc-8.
