GPG - how to update keys to a new format?

I'm just guessing but I doubt you can do that;
I think you need to generate new keys and
revoke your old keys.  Keys are cast to be
impregnable which is why I suspect that the keys
are not updateable.  You can AFAIK add
and change information; e.g., add a picture
but I would be surprised if you can actually
tamper with the actual generated keys.
