Or you can change the "mkinstalldirs = ..." line in `./po/Makefile.in.in'
(in your srcdir) to get if fixed before building.

MKINSTALLDIRS = @MKINSTALLDIRS@
mkinstalldirs = $(MKINSTALLDIRS)

Then the normal configure, make...
