Why can't I upload my pubkey?

Given the amount of information you provided, the most I can tell you is
that you did something wrong.

Probably a noncompliant keyserver. Use subkeys.pgp.net

Of course GnuPG will "accept" your key - it generated it. GnuPG is OpenPGP
compliant - the older keyservers are not. They "get stoopid" with V4 key
features like photo IDs and subkeys.
