random_seed file

Hello:  I downloaded, compiled, make, make install, then gen-key and all goes
well until I get the following message:
gpg: can't create ' /home/tompoe/.gnupg/random_seed' : No such file or directory

Any suggestions on what this file is, or why the message?  I copied the
/usr/local/share/gnupg folder to /home/tompoe/gnupg, but that didn't work.  TIA
