gnupg won't compile on Mac OS X

I'm not on the list, so sorry if this has come up, but those of us on 
OS X would like to be able to use gnupg, but can't since it won't 
make.  There is a bit of discussion about it at 
<http://www.macosx.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1654>.  To 
summerize quickly, basically we can run ./configure but it fails to 
generate a Makefile with anything in it, so running make does 
nothing.  Any ideas as to what we could do?
