Since WK has a pretty much religious conviction about this B-), I
wonder if anyone has looked at CTClib for GPL'd, PGP-compatible
encryption?

Unlike GnuPG, there's no command-line executable. Also, the
installation sucks rocks (not even a Makefile!, much less autoconf).
Still, if you're looking for a library rather than a command-line,
this may be a good place to start.
P.S. I have no involvement with CTC and I haven't even got it to
compile yet, so don't ask me how it works! I just followed the link
from gnupg.org.
P.P.S. I believe this *IS* a FAQ, hint hint.
