gpg dyn-linking error __register_frame_info

Actually, I'm not using that.  I don't even know what that is...
by the way,  I'm getting:

$./gpg --vv
./gpg: can't resolve symbol '__register_frame_info'

Is this a compiler/linker problem? I'm using gcc 2.95 with binutils 2.9.1.
