Minor nit, it was Information Hiding and not Data Hiding (makes it easier to
find via Google). The ref via Citeseer is

I've run into a similar issue with threshold schemes, in collaboration with
someone else we sat down to think about a standardised data format and
(eventually) API and (even more eventually) UI for managing this, and found
that just trying to frame the problem ended up creating a pretty good argument
for why it wasn't practically solveable.
