problems with scute

Hi!
I installed GPG4Win which includes a Scute module for Firefox.
Unfortunately it does not recognize my OpenPGP Card out of the box.
According to the Scute documentation there is some preparation required:

. But the required script gpgsm-gencert.sh is not included in GPG4win
and would not run on Windows because it is a Linux shell script.

Is the described preparation still required and if yes, how to do this
on Windows?

Also I did a quick search on Linux (Debian, Ubuntu) and it seems that
there is no package available. Is this true so that I would need to use
the source package on Linux?
