Autotools => CMake?

Is there any interest in converting the 1.4.x series away from  
Autotools as a build system and towards CMake?  CMake is a FOSS build  
system currently in use by KDE 4.0, along with some other systems,  
and is fairly widely available.  Converting to CMake would also make  
it possible to use native compilers on Win32, which would simplify  
the bootstrap-from-Win32 process immensely.

If there's interest in it, I'd be happy to spend some time looking  
into the port process.
