In general, if you spend hours on something without finding a solution, it
definitely is worth reporting.  At least it means that something is not
documented well enough.

Yes, this is one problem we definitely knew and by now have a solution
(although not in place).  As Werner said, funopen is an adequate
replacement.

I guess we will have to attack them one by one, or you will have to wait for
gnupg 2.0.
