Rather than forking gpg, which would worsen the already bad situation of
interoperability among PGP-ish products, you may want to consider Pegwit
v.9: NIST-recommended GF(2^233) ECC key exchange / ECDSA signatures, SHA-256
hash and Rijndael bulk enciphering. All (hopefully) unencumbered by patents,
and available in beta for UNIX and Windows from
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pegwit/ and http://disastry.dhs.org/pegwit/9/
