CVS?

Okay, I have it.  How do I get going?  Sorry, I'm a real newbie, but ready
to learn.

I tried 'autoconf', but I get a number of errors.  The first error is: 

configure.ac:45 error: possibly undefined macro: AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE
